Who likes the Hyundai i30 N
If you can't afford a Ferrari, but still want to drive a sports cannon, the Hyundai i30 N is the right place for you. At Hyundai, the "N" behind the model designation stands for a special kind of powerhouse. It really includes everything: powerful engine, throaty sound, firm chassis, a very direct steering and a truly snappy brake system. In addition, there are design elements that enhance its appearance and set it apart from the big average. Heart, what more could you want?
Suitable for everyday use and sporty
With the Hyundai i30 N, you don't just take a seat in a driver's seat, no, you are literally fitted into the sports seat. Here you sit firmly in the saddle. The sports suspension with adaptive shock absorbers, an electronic limited-slip differential and the N Grin Control System with five driving modes, which optimises the power curve and the suspension depending on the desired driving style, underline both its suitability for everyday use and its claim to be a racy speedster.
Stylish interior
The interior remains true to the style of the vehicle's characteristics. Leather, red decorative stitching as well as the supervision dashboard with TFT LCD display make it unmistakably clear: "I want to be something special!" And it almost goes without saying that a vehicle with these performance characteristics has all the safety-relevant driving assistance systems. ABS, ESP complement a lane departure warning and attention assistant as well as the automatic emergency braking system with pedestrian detection. And the list of electronic helpers is not yet complete.
A power machine
The 2-liter gasoline engine achieves tremendous driving performance with its turbocharging. 275 hp provide powerful action. The torque of 353 Nm literally catapults it from a standstill. With overboost, it even reaches 378 Nm. This concentrated power accelerates it from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds and is good for a top speed of 250 km/h. At the same time, the unit amazes with its high elasticity. Even in 6th gear at just under 2,000 rpm, the 2-liter turbo responds immediately and immediately puts in a lot of effort, especially when the N button is pressed.
What we like less
If you are looking for and find a fly in the ointment with the Hyundai i30 N, you might be better off driving a Smart.
What we particularly like
The sporty, firm chassis, the crisp six-speed gearbox, the very direct steering and the almost aggressive braking system arouse desires: How about turning right now and going to the limit on a rally track or even on a race track? As I said, away from public roads! But even with a civilized driving style and in the normal flow of traffic, if it's not convoy traffic, the Hyundai i30 N conveys a lot of driving pleasure. All this at a price of less than 40,000 francs is truly a strong piece!
